7th XPDC

after about 6 months of break, we had a fresh round of masjid photoshoot. we didn't mean to take such a long break. so we would like to apologize to our followers/fans for the delay and any inconveniences/grievances that we might have caused. without further ado, here are the 5 masjid:

1. Masjid Kg. Holland... located at Lorong Liput is a cozy masjid at Holland Village. according to a BH newspaper article, this masjid still retains much of its original structure from when it was first built. it needs to collect $10,788.43 this year so that it can continue to serve the Muslim community.

2. Masjid Darussalam... located at Commonwealth Ave West. it is community friendly masjid that offers Tamil Muslim Madrasah. while taking photos of the mimbar, we thought that it looks majestic coz of the effect from the sunlight streaming in. cool~ ;)

3. Masjid Tentera Diraja... located at Clementi Road is a familiar sight if you often go to Sakura International Buffet at Clementi Woods or study at NUS. it's a nice quiet masjid for those who seek peace from the busy city life.

4. Masjid Hussain Sulaiman... located at Pasir Panjang Road is rather quaint. the door to the ladies ablution/prayer area has a 'kampung' feel to it. although the masjid is at the roadside, there is still a tranquility to the area that i really love.

5. Masjid Ahmad... located at Lorong Sarhad is three storeys high. however, we were not able to take any photos of the 2nd and 3rd levels coz the door to the staircase was locked.

6th XPDC

we were thinking of whether to have our masjid photoshoot or not. somehow with all the late nites due to world cup and other commitments, it felt like we shouldn't. but we managed to make it happen. however, this time we only managed to cover 3 masjids. our sincerest apologies to all those who were expecting more. we'll try to make up for it next month...insyaallah.

1. Masjid Abdul Aleem Siddique... located at Lor K Telok Kurau has a really interesting outlook. the building is covered with words of Allah as well as that of Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. and his 4 companions. nice~

2. Masjid Kampung Siglap... located at Marine Parade Road still bears the marks of the savage fire that consumed its prayer hall last year. next to it is Darul Quran. the staffs were both helpful and receptive to our cause. we even got to see first hand how much damage the masjid suffered due to the blaze. if you have the means, do go down to the masjid to donate and contribute to their restoration funds.

3. Masjid Khalid... located at Joo Chiat Road is a ten minutes walk from Joo Chiat Complex. the masjid only has a single storey with the ladies prayer hall located on the right side of the masjid (if you are facing the masjid). the compound itself is rather spacious. there was a lovely aroma in the air when we were there.

5th XPDC

we managed to cover 6 masjids this time despite the intermittent downpour. actually we were in the vicinity of the 7th masjid but due to bad traffic condition we decided to cover it on another day. -_-''

1. Al Taqua... located at Jalan Bilal is a pretty cosy masjid. for a small masjid, it is wheelchair accessible and even has a handicap toilet. there's also a fridge with canned drinks. just remember to make a donation if you take one. =)

2. Al Ansar... located at Bedok North Ave 1 is hard to miss with its blue coat of paint. unlike most masjid, the male prayer hall is at level 2 while the female prayer hall is at level 4. there is also a model of Kaabah at level 3 with Lego people. that is a most interesting find! ;)

3. Masjid Alkaff Kampung Melayu... located at Bedok Reservoir Rd. i love the spiral staircase. it has a pictorial history of the masjid lining the wall up the staircase. there is also a reading area with shelves of books at the foot of the staircase.

4. Darul Aman... located at Jalan Eunos has names for different areas/halls in the masjid's vicinity. the names are inspired by key figures in prophet muhammad's (s.a.w) life. there's also a brief story of the person according to sirah rasul. coolness! =)

5. Masjid Mydin... located at Jalan Lapang is a cosy masjid. it blends with the surrounding terrace houses. the area has a certain serenity to it.

6. Masjid Kassim... located at Changi Road. we were warmly received and given a guided tour of the masjid. ladies have to take the lift to the 3rd storey to reach their designated prayer hall.
